Chapter 4-3

After hearing the cries from the jungle, the party heads towards the cry. Approaching a cliffside, the party spots a man on the ground asking for help. Approaching closer, the man has vines growing out of his skin and flesh. He jolts into the air and the party engages in combat.

Jasiri wrestles with the tree.

The party kills the vines and strange plants.

Vaelyn and Hazel investigate them, cutting off a piece before it starts to go back into the earth. It’s thick and in the cross section it looks black. Exposing it further, it reminds them of the rainbow roots. They’re dark and twisted. Dark blues and purples only remain.

Everyone goes back to camp to rest for the evening. [LONG REST ACHIEVED] The ongoing theory is the jungle is angry and Hazel will ask the “locals” in the morning. Hazel and the party find a monkey and ask him about the surrounding area and the strange dark creature. The strange clearing with dead bodies was surrounded by flames a few months ago? Hazel names the monkey, Pecan.

Hazel invites the monkey with the party to let her know if the creature comes near since he seems to hear it before the party.

The party then walks for 6 hours

[REACHING THE TEMPLE] Plants have consumed the temple now. It’s an old stone temple that almost gets lost with all the vegetation surrounding it. Vaelyn goes to one of the larger thick vines and takes a chunk out. The inside is similar to the one last night. He takes a sample along with the other vine from last night.

Approaching the front door - there is also a hole in the roof of the temple. The party chooses to go through the front door and Jasiri begins to cut through them enough for everyone to walk through.

Inside - There is no light. Rubble scattered, everything is decomposed inside. Statues have collapsed and none are fully upright anymore. On the sides, there are two doors and one passageway leading upward that is completely sealed and blocking the way. Off to the left of the door are the first floor height plants they’ve been told about. It’s a pod-like plant with an opening at the top. This one is grey and strange in colour. There are protrusions from the top looking almost like teeth.

Exploring the temple, Hazel discovers the plants don’t like water. Jasiri goes to use cure disease. The coloration begins to turn yellow at the place of touching and it extends outwards about 2 inches and then whatever is plaguing the plants in the area. Torren begins to burn the plants and the veins covering the door begin to wither and reveal more of the main hallway. Inside the pods - there are completely preserved animals. The party finds a hyena inside each - from Jasiri’s homeland??

After slaying the final pod, the temple begins to rumble and the large creature from the jungle the night before.
